Bendigo
Our Syrah is sourced from Bendigo, a region whose granite soils and elevated sites produce fruit of structure and quiet intensity. There is a natural firmness to Bendigo — a mineral spine and fine tannin profile that recalls the northern Rhône more than the broader expressions often associated with Australian Shiraz.
Our affinity has always been with the Rhône. The wines of Côte-Rôtie, Hermitage, and Cornas speak of savoury depth, line, and restraint — Syrah defined by pepper, graphite, and tension rather than sweetness or excess weight. Bendigo offers a similar dialogue between ripeness and structure. Warm days allow full flavour development, while cool nights preserve acidity and aromatic lift.
We are not seeking opulence. We are seeking shape. Bendigo allows us to craft a Syrah that carries perfume, structure, and length — a wine that feels composed at the table, layered rather than loud, and grounded in both site and tradition.
